Supplies I use to quilt on my little sewing machine

Metal Bands to roll the quilt so it will fit under my sewing machines space

You can find these on Amazon, I bought mine at GStreetfabrics

but they do not have them anymore.  I use these when  I am Freemotion quilting.

Start in the center of the quilt and quilt outwards, rolling your excess into the band so you can fit that side under your machine body.   I have a SMALL space.

Tailors Wood Clapper Block or Quilters Clapper

Mine Looks like this block, and I have pressing cloth like this

This set was found on Ebay, I don't know where I got my things, I have had them for a long time.

Compare prices, you can buy the block separate at many venues and many different prices.

I have one like this that I can put my fingers in the side grooves when I am using it to flatten the seams open on the quilt top to press

I use the clapper with a wool pressing mat, You can again find many different ones, but this size is a bigger size- the bigger the better.  I got mine at GStreetfabrics, but we no longer carry them.

How to Make a Quillow - Refresher

 Simple Quillow Sewing- Refresher

A quillow for every chair-sofa-bed... get cozy

A. Quilt.... A top- A bottom and something in between--- can be quilt batting or layers of cotton.

The three pieces become a sandwich and a few stitches, whether ties or stitching through the sandwich of fabric-make it a quilt.

B.  Quillow - A quilt that folds into a pillow

Simple 3 step or get complicated theme quilting

i.e.

becomes

folds into

pocket was turned inside out so quillow folds naturally into the pocket

Quillow

The very simplest  - two large pieces of fabric with batting in between and simple quilting

corner to corner and some simple design and then a pillow pocket to fold into

ie.

Reverse side

You can see where the pillow pocket is sewn on upside down so when you flip it the pieced pocket top shows as below

QUILLOW

Simple quilt folded into the pocket becomes a pillow for a bedtop or corner of a chair or sofa.

Only the pillow pocket top was pieced to have

some quilting look, but the quilt itself was entirely one piece on each side-simply quilted and then pillow pocket added.

More Examples:

Used the design for simple quilting through the minky backing...

then folded into the pillow pocket becomes:

More complicated you can combine embroidery with your quilt and quillow making-

The minky side had embroidery-the other side was Ravens Polar Fleece....

Even added a neckroll to this one

Another: Antique classic cars, trucks, pickups and motorcycles embroider combined with Redskins Polar Fleece

Totally Minky on Minky Quilted and made into

Quillow with accompanying Tote to carry it and a matching separate pillow

Totally Applique on cotton-minky on back and folds into a pillow--example
